December Glymm Box Review

This was my first Glymm box so I am not sure what I was expecting but I am happy with it. The only disappointing thing really was that I got two hand creams, getting two in one box is a bit disappointing but not the end of the world. The idea is to try new stuff. The perfume sample was a bit meh too, especially after getting two in my Luxe Box. Also, my sister got a really cute perfume sample in hers in this cute box and in a cute little bottle – I really liked the way hers was packaged. I did like that the box had a full size lip gloss.

December Glymm Box Review

Caudalie Hand and Nail Cream 15ml (full size 75ml $19)
Ahava Mineral Hand Cream 0.68fl oz (full size 3.4oz $20)
Yves Saint Laurent Parisienne Eau de Parfum (full size 50ml $75)
Sula Beauty Natural Lip Gloss full size Secret Crush 0.5fl oz $8
Lise Watier Ampoule Flash Life Eclat 1ml (bonus? wasn’t on my card)
$10 Gylmm Gift Card
Jelly Bellys (yum!)

The Ahava Mineral Hand Cream has a nice smell to it haven’t tried it yet though. The perfume smells alright.

Eventually I am going to have to decide what box I like better, getting two every month seems a bit silly.

I did like the $10 card in this month’s box, thinking about seeing if I can combine that with some of my Glymm Points and order myself something free on their website store. I like free! I already ordered a free lip gloss with some of my points. Do really like their points system.

If you sign up for your own Glymm Box using my referral link you will get 100 points to start your account off, 100 points is equal to $10! That is what I used to order my lip gloss. :)

December Loose Button Luxe Box Review

At first I was pretty disappointed with this month’s Luxe Box, well I guess I still kind of am. At first glance it looks really great and full of nice size products and it is, but this is what got me.

The Moroccanoil stuff was to make up for sending out an expired product last month – that I am going to use anyway. It doesn’t really go bad.

From the email Loose Button sent out:

As a token of our appreciation and to compensate for any inconvenience this may have caused to you, we are sending you a Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray and a special something in your next box, as a replacement for the expired Hydrating Styling Cream.

It was nice to see a full size product in the box, but really it’s only a basic $4 eye liner. And two perfume samples? Did they really need to send two? These are like the ones you get free in the drug store. The face cream looks nice and according to a card in the box it is worth $41 for the sample size. To me it feels like all I really got was a $4 eye liner and a face cream (thought expensive!) since the Moroccanoil was a “bonus” for the screw up last month and the perfume samples are free most places.

December Loose Button Luxe Box Review

DDF Advanced Firming Cream 14g (full size 48g $140)
Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray 75ml (full size 300ml $24)
Moroccanoil Moisture Repair Shampoo 70ml (full size 240ml $22)
Moroccanoil Moisture Repair Conditioner 70ml (full size 240ml $21)
Nina Ricci L’Air du Temps Perfume 1.2ml (full size 50ml $72)
Nina Ricci Nina Fragrance 1.2ml (full size 50ml $65)
NYX Slim Eye Pencil Black full size 1g $4
Belgian Chocolate

The box was still nice, and I will keep my subscription (read a lot of people cancelling on Facebook) but it was a bit disappointing. After looking on their Facebook some people got worse and some people got a lot better – it seems like if you pay for a year in advance you get better boxes. Not sure what to think about that.

I think the November Luxe Box was actually better – I would of thought the special “Holiday Edition” box would had more “WOW” – maybe my expectations were too high? Probably.

I honestly haven’t tried anything for the November box, this one or my Glymm box yet! I need to get on that ASAP. Not sure what I am waiting for. The point is to try this stuff! I did smell it at least. The Moroccanoil stuff smells nice and the perfumes aren’t bad – like the Nina one better the other one is a little floral. And I do use black eye liner all the time – hopefully it goes on nice.

Boxing Day Shopping: Hallmark 2011 Keepsake Christmas Tree Ornaments 50% Off

This post is a few days late…

I braved the malls on boxing day mostly for one thing, Hallmark. I was there first thing to get dibs on all the half price keepsake ornaments. Even at 50% off they are still on the pricier side, but you have to indulged sometimes.

While I was out I did get a couple other things but I just wanted to share the decorations I picked up because I love them so much.

Happiness Is A Warm Cookie (Peanuts) Hallmark Keepsake Ornament 2011
Hello, Snow! (Winnie The Pooh) Hallmark Keepsake Ornament 2011

As you can see I seriously have a problem with the Hallmark decorations. I may have went a bit overboard… may. I also bought Gizmo earlier in the year, happy I did because they were sold out on boxing day. Have also spent some time on eBay buying up a few of the Star Wars ships for my fiance. We really do have a pretty kick ass Christmas tree!

There is a couple more I have my eye on, but only if I can get them 75% off.

Other than Hallmark I picked up a few candles 75% off at Bath and Body Works – I love Bath and Body Works!

Free Dove, Cheap Glade, Christmas Tags and L’Oréal

Was ready for work pretty early this morning so decided to go into Superstore before it got crazy. Was looking for the $1 Dove deodorant and cheap Glade products to use up my coupons that expire tomorrow. The Glade wasn’t as cheap as I would of hoped but I picked it up anyway. Also scored some L’Oreal Collagen Remodeler (day) for $2.99, wish there had of been more than one for that price. And some cute Christmas tags for 75% off.

Pretty good shop I think! Not really sure about their math on the Christmas tags – seems to be a bit more then 75% off, not going to complain though since it worked in my favour. :)

1 Cent Julep Maven Beauty Box – December It Girl Review

This is another subscription service much like Luxe Box and Glymm (December reviews coming soon) but based [mostly] around nail polishes. This is the first time I have received this box and I paid only 1 penny for it and that included shipping! How awesome is that? It came today and I only ordered it on the 19th, seemed pretty fast to me.

There is a couple cool things about the Julep Maven boxes, the main one – they have different boxes to choose from and you get to see what is in the box you are picking! I like the idea of surprises but it is also nice to pick out your nail polish colours in advance. The only downfall, a girl can only have so much nail polish – at least this girl anyway.

You can also change to different boxes depending on your mood each month. You also get the option to skip month(s) if you need to. Pretty handy.

I think this is possibly the best one cent I have ever spent!

Super Cheap Oral B ProfessionalCare 5500

Found these on clearance at Shoppers Drug Mart – they had a few different ones, some higher end ones for $10 more but I just wanted them for the heads. I already have the toothbrushes and it worked out cheaper to buy heads this way because of the $10 off coupon.

Super Cheap Oral B ProfessionalCare 5500
Paid $30.40 after tax for the 2, regular $89.99 each before tax.

2 x Oral B ProfessionalCare 5500 $22.50 – 2 x $10.00 coupons = $12.50 each

Subtotal: $25.00
Tax: $5.40
Total: $30.40
Saved: $154.98
($20.00 in coupons, $134.98 in sale price)
84% Total Savings, 40% Coupon Savings

I had a few different coupons, some were from inserts and one came with a PG Sampler pack I think. My Mom used one of my other coupons and got herself a toothbrush too :)

Between the two I got 6 toothbrush heads for $30.40 after tax. The cheapest these are normally is $37.99 for 7 at Costco before tax. Or $19.99 (before tax) for 3 at Walmart. Shopper Drugs Mart sells 3 heads for $30! OUCH!

Anyway, really happy with this deal – was in need of the toothbrush heads badly!

Subtotal: $4.92

Total: $5.63
Saved: $1.00
15% Coupon Savings

No big savings here but I needed toothpaste, I like this one – it was in sale and I had a coupon.

While I was buying these I was also buying some Chocolate for stockings – I had all the coupons paired up with the items on the belt. And one of my coupons went under the belt and was forever lost. Lesson learned, don’t put coupons on the belt with your items. Keep them in your hand. I guess that is what you get for trying to help the cashier out. It seems like no matter what you do sometimes there is no winning, All well, it was only for $0.75.

My Last Aveeno Stack

Sad to see these stacks go. I figured I might as well use the last one up since they expire at the end of the month. I have a feeling our stacking days are numbered, might as well do it well I can! I normally use the Bath and Body Works body wash because I usually get a free when buying something else but this Aveeno body wash smelled amazing. Since most of my other Aveeno stacks were for someone else I thought I would treat myself.
