I Need More Time

Time. I need more time. I need more time in everything that I do.

I need more time with my son.
I need more time for having fun.
I need more time to play.
I need more time to cook.
I need more time to work.
I need more time to clean.

Okay that last one is debatable.

But I just need more time. I am sure we all do.

Lately I feel like time is just vanishing. I have so many things I want to do but I never seem to get them done. I always have this list running through my head of all the things I want to do. While I am showering I think about all the things I am going to do that day. I am usually lucky if I get half my list done. Why do I keep making these lists for myself? They just stress me out and overwhelm me. But I do it anyway. Every. Single. Day.

I try and tell myself the most important things are spending time with my son and having fun but I keep making myself silly lists and giving myself stupid expectations. But if I just had more time…

Norwex – Cleaning with Only Water

Have you heard of Norwex? I hadn’t until just very recently. I got invited to a Norwex party by a mutual friend and was like WTF is Norwex, why do I want to go to a cleaning party, lame, and ignored the invitation. A couple weeks later a good friend invited me to her Norwex party so I had to go. Right from the second she told me about it I knew I wasn’t going to buy anything. I have tons of cleaning products from my couponing days and I just don’t need more. WRONG.

I went over to my friends house and she rubbed butter all of her mirror. BUTTER! Then she got out this pretty pink cloth, got it wet (with water!) and wiped her mirror. Next she got out this pretty purple cloth and dried her mirror. It was spotless. SPOTLESS. I decided right then and there I needed these cloths. I knew nothing else but I had to have these cloths.

Before the party I actually ended up winning the cloths somewhere else so I went to the party not sure what else they could really sell me on. Cleaning sucks. By the time the party was over I was sold. I needed Norwex everything (except the mop) and I had signed up to host my own party.

Norwex is AMAZING. So if you haven’t heard about it, what is Norwex?

I have a few cleaners but I was never a hard core cleaning product person. I hate bleach, it scares me – I am always so worried about ruining things. But I do use Vim and Windex (mostly for cleaning my stainless steel appliances). Because of my dogs I have always been pretty careful with chemicals in the home, especially on my floors. I was already cleaning with vinegar and water, or water only when I could anyway so Norwex just made sense to me. I love that the Microfiber cloths are infused with silver, this makes them naturally antibacterial – and they clean so well. The Window cloth really is magic. I spray some water on my Windows, glass doors, stainless steel appliances, etc wipe with the cloth and they are spotless almost instantly. NO STREAKS. When I see baby licking these things I can breath safe knowing they are not covered in Windex and the cloths really do save time.

I often see people asking about natural cleaning products and people mention Method and Green Works but seriously, try Norwex! I am so hooked I have even been thinking about selling it and a two months ago I had no idea what it even was! I haven’t touched my Windex or Vim since I received my Norwex products. The only cleaning product I have used is my Cerama Bryte to clean my cooktop – but I hear the Norwex Cleaning Paste works great for that – I just don’t have any yet. I feel cleaner and almost lighter, it is weird. I actually have this itching to throw away all my cleaning products. But the OCD in me says I still might need them ONE DAY. I should probably just throw them away…

If you get invited to a party, go! Check it out – it really has changed my life. It has changed the way I think about cleaning and how I feel about cleaning. Hosting a party allowed me to try all kinds of things without spending too much money. Keep your eye on my blog for more posts about Norwex and for honest opinions and reviews on the different products I have and am trying.

Coconut Dreams Cookies

I saw these on Add a Pinch and knew I had to make them, immediately. And they were worth it. So delicious. Side note: all recipes I have tried on Add a Pinch have been awesome. She has some great cake recipes!

I doubled the recipe because I knew 20 cookies was not going to be enough. Plus, when was the last time a recipe actually made the amount of cookies it said it did – this one was actually pretty accurate. I ended up with pretty close to 40 cookies.

Just a couple suggestions. Use less kosher salt or swap out for sea salt. The taste was delicious but I found they were too salty. At times you could really taste the salt. Also, don’t over cook. Some of mine were very hard. I cooked longer than recommended because I felt like they weren’t cooking – in reality they probably were done a lot sooner then I realized. After a couple days they did soften up. Much better when soft. So even if they don’t looked cooked take them out! I also used half the amount of chocolate chips and happy I did. I feel like the chocolate would have really overpowered the coconut if I had of used the whole amount.

A HUGE plus for these (in my books) is that they use coconut oil. I buy my coconut oil in a HUGE container from Costco so these are a great way to help use it up.

I will be making these again and probably again and again… once I get some more coconut oil.

I Love Cooking

I really enjoy cooking. I would even say I love cooking. I still have some days where I don’t want to cook but mostly I love it. Usually I don’t want to cook because I hate cleaning up the mess that follows the cooking, but that is a whole other story.

I mostly follow recipes and love trying new ones. I thought it would be fun to add some cooking posts to this blog – so I can share what I have made and recommended recipes to try.

It’s weird. I have always enjoyed cooking but I have really found a new love for it just in the past few months. I have been having fun trying new recipes – like homemade pasta and naan (I love carbs)! I think part of the fun is to see if baby will eat it – often it ends up on the floor for the dogs. Baby is picky, very picky. My dogs love my cooking and baby; because he throws food.

Priorities Change

Priorities change.

Maybe this is obvious to most people but it wasn’t to me.

Before baby I would shower every morning. I would then spend an hour blow drying my hair and then straightening it. After that was done I would apply my makeup. Getting dressed sometimes took 3 of 4 outfit changes. The whole process took too long (in my husband’s eyes) but to me it wasn’t that long and it was completely necessary. Now it is too long. Way too long.

I used to see other Moms with their hair in a messy bun and no makeup and think “that will never be me.”

WRONG!

Now it is me. Totally me.

people don't change their priorities do

I still shower every morning, or at least at some point close to morning. That is necessary. I also still shave every single day – that is an absolute necessity and something I always make time for. I just can’t be that person who hasn’t shaved their legs in a week. It gives me the hebejebes just thinking about it. If it works for you AWESOME, no judging from this Mom – but that does not work for me. I even shaved in the hospital after baby was born.

Everything else? Well that is a different story. In the 14 months since baby was born I have done my hair maybe a dozen times and I now wear very little makeup . Usually just a little BB cream, sometimes some eyeliner and mascara. I don’t remember the last time I used eyeshadow or actual coverup. BB cream has become my new favourite product.

Things that used to matter just don’t anymore. All the things I worried about before just don’t even cross my mind. Okay, well they still do sometimes. It amazes me what a different person I have become.

I had all these plans for this blog after baby was born. I took all these pictures of products I was going to review, I even had half the posts written out in my head… obviously that never happened because priorities change. Priorities change for the better. My priority now is to love my little human as much as I can. Fill his day with as much fun as I can and just be his Mom. Obviously some things still have to happen like cooking (I love cooking) and cleaning (I hate cleaning) but not much else matters besides him. He is my whole world. I still want to blog (when I can) but I no longer have any plans for what this blog will be or won’t be. No apologies.
